QYO lost a great friend on 30 April with the death of former President Norman Fussell AO.

Under Norm’s leadership, from 1995 to 2008, QYO’s financial position was transformed and strengthened. Norm’s legacy for QYO is an organization with a low fee structure for today’s generation of young players, and financial security that will benefit future generations of QYO members.

Norm was one of Queensland’s most senior businessmen, having served as Managing Director of Thiess and MIM, and Chairman and Director of other major companies. From the early 1980’s onwards, he used his national and international connections to assist QYO with direct sponsorships and international touring support.

Norm was supported by his wife of more than 58 years, Amy, who became well known at QYO events. All of us at QYO extend our deepest sympathy to Amy and family.
