Please nominate the orchestra of your first preference below. Consider listing a second or an additional preference as there is no guarantee you will be placed in your first preference.  Please discuss with your teacher to ensure you are applying for the orchestra/s most suited to your standard and within the age limit.   You will need to prepare the musical excerpts provided by QYO which will be available in September.  The excerpts are chosen by the artistic panel to reflect the standard required for the orchestra of your first preference. You will only be considered for the orchestras that you list and preferences should be listed in order of QYO standard, eg. QYO2 before QYO3.  Big Band can only be listed as first and only preference.  If you would like to audition for another orchestra in addition to Big Band, or audition on a different instrument (eg. both cello and flute), you must complete a separate application.

If you know in advance that you are unable to attend an audition in person on the advertised dates above, you may need to submit a pre-recorded audition. This applies to applicants living interstate or in regional areas, temporarily away from Brisbane or unable to attend on the audition day. Your recording must be received by end of school term, Friday 21 September 2018. After you complete this application, please email the QYO office on, so you can be sent excerpts and instructions early, so you have sufficient time to prepare and submit your recording by the due date.

If your parent/guardian or you (if you're over 18), can marshal for 1-2 hours around your audition time, (especially brass), please complete details and the office will make contact if you are needed on the volunteer schedule. The marshals help to keep auditions running on time by marking the roll and directing students to warmup and audition rooms. Thank you.

All applicants must be regularly studying with an instrumental music teacher.  QYO recommends you discuss preferences with your music teacher to ensure you are applying for the orchestra/s most suited to your standard and age.  QYO may contact your music teacher regarding your application.
