JSE1 CAMP INFORMATION
Venue:
QCCC Brookfield Camp
179 Gold Creek Rd, Brookfield QLD 4069
Transport: Parents must arrange transport for their children to and from the Brookfield venue. There are no buses provided to or from the Old Museum Building.
Arrival and Departure: Camp runs Friday 20th Feburary - Sunday 22nd Feburary
Members should arrive at the camp venue between 16:30 and 17:00 on Friday 20th February and be collected no later than 13:15 on Sunday 20th February.
All members will be required to be signed out by a parent or guardian.
There will be a short concert for parents/ guardians at 12:45pm (after lunch on Sunday.)
General: The annual camp is compulsory. It provides a focused weekend of rehearsals and tutorials and is a great opportunity for players to get to know each other at the start of the year.
Cost: The camp fee is included in the annual membership fee.
Supervision: The camp will be supervised by official QYO staff and volunteers.

Accommodation: The sleeping arrangements are dormitory style, so members will need to bring bed linen and blankets, or a sleeping bag, as well as a pillow, night attire and toiletries etc.
Male and female members are accommodated separately and may not enter each other’s dorms at any time. Members are expected to keep their accommodation area clean and tidy at all times. QYO ensemble members will be liable for the repair cost of any damage caused to QCCC Brookfield Camp property.
Hard Work: Please keep in mind that this camp is intensive rehearsing at the highest level. Members will play music for approximately 12 hours over the weekend, so please ensure members are well rested and ready to work hard!
What to Wear: Casual, comfortable and modest clothing is best. Please no “really short” shorts, midriff tops or tight clothing. Please bring something warm just in case! Water bottles, sunscreen and hats are compulsory.
Study Room: A quiet study room will be available for anyone who wishes to study.
Sports Gear: Ensemble members are welcome to bring a soccer ball, football, cricket gear, basketball etc. but QYO cannot accept responsibility for loss or damage of these items.
Swimming: Access to the swimming pool will only be allowed during allocated recreation periods in the presence of official camp supervisors. Sunscreen must be applied 20 minutes prior to swimming and the wearing of sun shirts is highly recommended. No Sunscreen No Swimming! Normal pool safety rules apply.
Camp Schedule: A full camp schedule will be issued to members and families.
PLEASE NOTE: Once on camp, we stay on camp. Activities will be organised by the volunteers on site.

# Medications need to be in their original box, clearly labelled with member’s name and directions for use, packed in a ziplock bag and handed to the Administrator on arrival on Friday afternoon.
General Rules
1. Members are not permitted to be in or near each other’s rooms. Common rooms are available for everyone to mix during free time.
2. Alcohol, non-prescription drugs and smoking are prohibited.
3. QYO members must remain within the camp precinct or grounds throughout the duration of the camp.
4. Members are not allowed to wander around the campsite after lights out.
5. Those who wish to study or do homework and assignments in free time will be provided with a suitable area in which to work.
6. Mobile phones must be switched off or on silent during rehearsals, and they maybe confiscated if they are used during rehearsals or after ‘lights out’.
7. Out of courtesy to others when on electronic devices, use headphones.
8. Respect the rights of other members who wish to sleep.
9. ’Lights Out!’ means ‘lights out’ and everyone must settle down quickly and quietly. We have early morning starts and you need a good sleep to be ready for tutorials and rehearsals.
10. Always aim to be involved, committed, and have fun.
Code of Conduct
1. Abide by our ten camp rules.
2. Be mindful that you are always representing Queensland Youth Orchestras.
3. Be courteous, polite, and respectful to those around you, at all times.
4. Remember to STOP, THINK, DECIDE and then ACT appropriately in all situations.
5. Severe misbehaviour on camp or any behaviour that brings the Queensland Youth Orchestras name into disrepute may result in a player being sent home early.
6. Please understand that if a player needs to be sent home for poor behaviour, any expenses incurred will be the responsibility of the parent/s or guardian.
Disciplinary Procedure
1. If a breach of the Code of Conduct is identified, the player will meet with the Conductor and Administrator to explain their actions.
2. They will agree on what disciplinary action will be taken.
