The QYO Big Band has been involved in some high profile concerts lately including Jazz Under the Stars with Tom Burlinson at Churchie, Essentially Ellington Festival at Marist College Ashgrove, Lord Mayor's Charitable Trust Gala Ball 'Midnight in Paris' at City Hall and the Doo-Bop Bar in the city. Coming up on Sun 28 Oct, they will perform in the Queen Street Mall from 12pm.
On Thursday 5 April, QYO welcomed a large audience at the first Morning Music series concert. Five soloists from QYS joined with piano accompanist Julian Wade to perform works by Mozart, Mendelssohn, Saint-Saens, Vieuxtemps and Gliere. Thank you to Collin Myers AM for his ongoing voluntary work in organising and marketing the Morning Music concert series.
Welcome to all of our new and returning members, families and supporters. With a very successful 2017 behind us, we look forward to 2018 featuring world premieres of new works by local composers, collaborations with guest ensembles and soloists, music camps, regional tours and day trips, and our National Youth Concerto Competition, all under the expert guidance of our conductors and tutors.
The recently completed QYS tour was a great success with wonderful performances and receptions from audiences in China and Germany. The final concert earned a standing ovation from the 1,400 audience members in the Bamberg Concert Hall.
