WIND ENSEMBLE

If you are a high school aged wind, brass or percussion player in search of adventure, Wind Ensemble (WE) is the place for you. Your conductor, David Law, is spirited, spontaneous and hilarious. David will teach you a lot about music, but he is even more interested in finding out what music means to you. His greatest skill as a music educator is giving young musicians the confidence to express themselves.

David Law

WE CONDUCTOR

  • I can name all of the films that won Best Picture at the Oscars, by year! This is my “party trick”. Note: I am prepared to show off this skill at any time!

  • Curiosity, commitment, and kindness. You don’t need to be the loudest or the fastest - just someone who shows up, listens deeply, and lifts the people around you.

  • A week-long program, rehearsals every day and concerts every night, playing brand new pieces by emerging and established Australian composers!

  • Sondheim, and funk/disco music from the 1970s! Chuck in some Joni Mitchell, Carole King and James Taylor, and I’m all set!

  • As a teleportation device! Who wouldn’t want to quickly pop over to New York City to see a Broadway show, go to a New York Philharmonic concert, eat at Chinatown in Flushing, Queens, or just walk around Central Park!?!
