QYO/QSO Project

QYO/QSO Project

The Queensland Youth Symphony was given the opportunity to perform under conductor Nicholas Buc alongside members of the Queensland Symphony Orchestra in a collaborative project last month. Performing Brahms’ Symphony No. 2 and three movements from John William’s Star Wars Suite, the QYS musicians were able to get a feel for what it would be like performing at a professional level.

The rehearsal process was educational and fun, with rehearsals were taken under conductors John Curro and Nicholas Buc, An opportunity for QYS members to meet and work with professional musicians from QSO, it also gave them a glimpse into the life of a performer.

The audience was treated to a concert filled with life and energy. Brilliant playing, and wonderful to see the rapport and enjoyment shared by the experienced QYO players and the QYS musicians. The experience was incredible for all involved, and the concert was energetic, exciting and inspiring. Conductor Nicholas Buc said that he was “extremely proud of the young musicians from the Queensland Youth Orchestras. An extraordinary performance full of passion, emotion and vigour! The future of music is in good hands with this lot”

Once again, a big thank you to our team of volunteers who made the concert possible - Noel Smith, Tim Goodwin, Chris and Nancy Elvin, Greg Lloyd, Victoria Whiting and Mike and Jane Bernays.
